Support is EVERYTHING!
Do you have a support system? That can be comprised of a friend or friends, family, spouses, classmates, coworkers... Having a strong support system in your life is an awesome thing to have. We all need someone to listen, to talk to, to encourage us, to cheer us on, to let us cry, to let us vent, to just be there, to break bread with, to trust our secrets with, to not judge us...
Whether we'd like to admit it or not, it feels good to know that someone is in our corner. Many may try to convince themselves that they don't need the support of anyone. If you're that person, I challenge you to try it. It can mean the world in times of grief or to share a happy moment.
I'd like to say that I am a supporter. It's probably one of my best characteristics. It comes to me as second nature. I just do it without thinking. To those of you that find yourself as the "supporter", it's great. We are blessed to be a blessing. However, I'd like to caution you to be mindful of support burn out. Whenever we pour ourselves out, we need to refuel. Being a supporter can drain you if you're not careful. I'm a witness. It's nothing that the others are doing wrong, it's just something to be aware of. What I've learned in very recent days is, how to support and pray. The two go together for me. I can support someone in the physical sense by being a listening ear but at the same time, releasing it to God for Him to take over. That relieves me of having the "superwoman" attitude; knowing that I can't do it all and that God is in control and it relieves me of putting so much pressure on myself.
To my supporters out there, don't stop being who you are, just be keenly aware of who you are. Keep doing what you're doing. It's your gift. Just please make sure that you lean into your own support system. Yes, you need it too. We all do. You can't just give out, give out, give out and not replenish. An old church song says, take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there. God may supply you with a friend to unleash on and cry with that will give it all to Him on your behalf.
Be support and receive support. It is, to me, one of the best things that God has given us to give to each other. I help you, you help the next one and so on. Stay connected,
I do not own the rights to the image.
SUPER...from one “supporter” to another...! Keep on sharing your gifts! 😘 Daddy
