Out of Gas
I believe I've written something pertaining to this before. However, it was in my spirit to discuss it again. Last week I was mentally and emotionally drained. Often times people don't like to talk about that. We willingly speak about being physically tired but when it comes to the mental we keep quiet. It is a thing; being mentally drained can leave you literally feeling empty. I had nothing left. That was me in the image; pulling and tugging, trying to add some fuel to my tank and I just couldn't. So, what do you do when this happens? My friends, sometimes, it is okay to just give into it. When you have nothing left to give to yourself or anyone else it's time to pause. Know when you are empty and stop trying to run on fumes. When we do that, we invite sickness into our bodies. Know when to give into it. Know when to shut it down.
What did I do? I turned my cell phone off in the early evening for two days. I didn't want to talk, text, video chat or be tempted to look at social media. I PAUSED! I knew that I needed to remove myself from everything in order to regain my peace and maintain it. I relaxed my mind and talked to God. I watched things on tv that didn't require me to think or that would build anxiety. On Sunday's I attend virtual church and get my spirit replenished; my fuel for the week. Sometimes, you just need a moment to breathe.
Always remember, that you can't give from an empty tank. You can not operate on fumes or an imaginary reserve tank. Take time to replenish. Whatever time that you have, be it five minutes or an hour; do it. Your mind, body and spirit will thank you for it.
Don't pull from an empty tank. Refuel and operate with a full one.
I do not own the rights to the image.
