In the Midst of the Storm

We are certainly in the midst of a storm; a war even. However, in most storms there is a calm before and after. What about during the storm? Is there an inkling of hope inside of it? Is there any peace inside of it? I'd venture to say, "yes". However, it may not always be easy to find it. You may actually have to search for it. You may have to dig deep for it. Take a look at the image. It looks like something big is brewing. It looks like it will take over and consume you. Look beyond the brewing storm. There are glimpses of sunlight and an awesome colored sky. Focus your attention on the peace of it, rather than the rage of it.

Yes, indeed we are in a storm. Yes, indeed it is difficult. We must try to take our focus off of the negative and find the positive. Some may be reading this and saying, "easier said than done". That is absolutely the truth. I will not sugar coat and say it's not challenging. Everyone has a unique experience in this common storm; some more severe than others. Dwelling on the negative will only begin to tug at you mental stability and in turn, compromise your physical health.

When we think of a storm or are in one, our minds automatically rush to fear and anxiety. It's almost like auto pilot. It is up to us to do the work to shift our thinking. Whatever your specific challenge is during this time, try your best to hold on to hope. Every cloud has a silver lining; be it large or small.

I have personally begun to see the small miracles. God is still in the miracle working business. When someone offers to go to the store for me without me having to ask or someone is going to pick up a meal and asks if I would like something; when the rain comes and reveals a rainbow and the most beautiful sunset afterwards... These are just a few.

Let's keep our minds, bodies and spirits healthy. We owe it to ourselves to find the peace, hope and silver lining in the midst of this great storm. Our overall health depends on it.

When you feel like there is overwhelming weight on your shoulders, remember to search and dig for your peace. See it in your mind. Feel it in your spirit. In every storm this is a glimpse of sunshine, you just have to look for it.
