Ebbs and Flows

It seems like we are going through a tremendous amount of ebb and flow right now; figuratively speaking. The entire world is experiencing a surge of the tide at the same time. The flow of the tide seems to be very high most days. Though, there are hidden ebbs in there. Each day, there are times when we can find that the tide begins to drain away from us and we can breathe.

When the flow comes in we feel like we are literally drowning. Those are the times to think of the peace of the ebb. Every time that you feel like the waves have literally crashed and swallowed you; remember what it feels like when the tide pulls back.

Think of the roaring waves literally for a moment. Imagine them coming quickly up to shore. Hear the sound rushing toward you. Though it's massive, there is a sound of peace inside of it. Feel the rush as it comes closer and sprinkles mist onto your face. Take it in; not so bad is it?

In these tough times that we are all experiencing, we have to try our best to find little pockets in between the waves. They are there, it just may be a bit more difficult to locate them right now.

The flows are in the laughter of your children, the birds chirping and the leaves rustling in the the trees. The flows are in having light hearted conversation with your family and friends. The flows are reconnecting to people that you haven't spoken to in a while. The flows are in peaceful and soft music. The flows are in the whisper of God's voice. We just have to take the time to hear them, see them and feel them.

Tough times call for creativity and imagination. Tough times call for reflection and reinventing. These are by no means easy times that we are in. I would be lying to you if I said that every day is easy. We all will have our moments and we may have many but remember the tide. It comes and it goes. It roars and it whispers. It blows and it settles.

These are the ebbs and flows of life. Find your flow and hold on to it. You may need it everyday or you may not need it at all but at least you'll know that you have it.
