Be Anxious For Nothing...

Bible Scripture tells us, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God... Philippians 4:6-7.

In times like these we need something/someone else to cast our fears, cares and worries on.

We are undoubtedly in a crisis. We are undoubtedly in challenging times. This is something that most of us have never witnessed in our lifetime. In spite of crisis and challenge, we must keep our mental health in check. I know, I know, easier said than done; when we are being saturated with information every second of the day. It's not easy to not have your mind consumed with worry.

We are human and by nature, we worry; some of us more than others. There are some things that you can do to relax your mind. Consider starting your day with a prayer of thanks and pray for the world. Read that book that has been sitting on your table for months because you just couldn't get to it. Take your time cooking a new meal. Play good old fashioned board games with your children. Listen to your favorite music and sing loudly. Write a letter to someone or watch funny movies. ...and please, take a break from reading every direct message, every text and every email about the pandemic. Do not allow yourself to be oversaturated with information. Select a time or times of day when you will either read or listen to the news provided by the CDC. Create your own limit. Check on your loved ones and the elderly around you if you are able to. You may not be able to go to the gym but you can definitely exercise at home. Oh, and by all means, if you are not confined to your home, step outside on your steps or porch and breathe in some air for a few minutes.

It is very important that we not worry because the worry and anxiety compromise our immune systems. Prepare, take necessary precautions, use wisdom, practice mindfulness, get rest and create a positive affirmation for this particular time.

I want to personally send my well wishes and prayers to all of those who have family members in care facilities that you are unable to see, to those who have lost loved ones during this time and can't plan funerals, to those who may have had to cancel weddings, to those living in shelters, to those who have to go to work and work in the hospitals and care facilities, to parents who have to find care for their children that are out of school, to those that work in malls, restaurants and movie theatres that are closing and losing business, to those that live alone and are isolated and countless others. Special prayer for our leaders; from the top on down to state and local officials, and boards of educations. You are forced to make decisions for all of us in an effort to keep us all safe.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
